The living room is your chance to experiment with a wealth of colours, patterns, and design ideas. It can be a blank canvas, from signature walls and murals to style elements from different eras. Living room curtains are key to your overall look, adding a softer, more embracing feature to offset your colour palette and primary décor focal points. There are myriad options, from metallics to plain, geometric to floral. How they interplay with your colour choices also helps to gel the whole room solution together. For a simple, contemporary look, grey paint is an on-trend option that brings both cool and warm tones to the table. For a cosy, intimate feel, introduce warming colours into the mix, like oranges, gorgeous chocolate and coffee browns, deep reds and ochre.
If you want to create that quintessential country cottage look, floral living room curtains perfectly partner with colours such as sage green or delicate pastels. Turn a living room into a country house library with intense navy blue with a low 2% sheen rating. Or keep it simple and elegant by adding neutral paint to metallics or mid-century patterns for a modern-meets-retro look.
What lining do I need for my curtains?
We offer various lining options for our made to measure curtains. Each has its own practical properties while also enhancing the overall look and feel.
- Our standard lining is the most affordable option and is used solely to enhance and give your main fabric a backing, helping to protect the fabric from direct sunlight by filtering out the light in the room whilst also creating a nice drape. This light filtering option is lightweight and produces a soft natural glow in daylight hours. Available in ivory.
- Our satin finish lining is medium weight that gently filters out light whilst creating an improved drape and finish. Satin lining is available in ivory and white.
- Our blackout/thermal lining is a specialised heavyweight lining option and our top pick to eliminate light from the room when drawn. It also helps protect the main fabric from direct sunlight to avoid fading. Our blackout/thermal lining helps keep the room cool in summer by reducing the amount of light dispersing into the room, and during those colder months, it helps retain heat, making this a fantastic choice for bedrooms. Other benefits include reducing energy consumption and noise pollution. This option is ideal for windows and doors with a draft and gives a beautiful drape and finish. Our blackout/thermal lining is available in two colours, ivory and white.
- Interlined curtains contain an extra layer of lining that is placed between your main curtain fabric and the backing/lining. The interlining provides greater thermal efficiency and gives your curtains more body. This is a great option if you want your curtains to have a fuller look, creating a more opulent and luxurious feel.
What kind of fabric is used to make your curtains?
Will there be joins in my Curtains?
Larger curtains will require a join in the fabric. Curtains over 1260mm wide will have a single seam in the fabric. If your fabric contains a pattern, the panels will be pattern matched across the seams.
Are blackout and thermal curtains the same product?
