Black Curtains

Design Style
Whether you perfectly partner your black curtains with a neutral paint palette or opt for something a little bolder, such as a striking navy blue paint or green tones, the subtlety of predominantly black curtains makes for an interesting contrast. Our collection of enchanting designs and patterns proves that black doesn't necessarily mean plain. Distinctive botanical designs come alive when partnered with green paint. Or counterbalance the intensity of black with a bright, fresh white paint that lifts the design.
Black curtains are especially at home in a contemporary setting, where the 'absence' of colour juxtaposes a monochromatic grey, marble or white palette. The effect can be particularly arresting in a living room or bedroom, where the hardness of an ultra-chic modern interior can be softened with black curtains embellished with subtle floral patterns. Alternatively, strong geometric designs capture that mid-century feel and work well with grey paint or pops of primary colour. Short-drop black curtains in a kitchen give a dynamic look and provide plenty of privacy. Adding blackout material also makes black curtains efficient in minimising background illumination from ruining a good night's sleep.
What lining do I need for my curtains?
We offer various lining options for our made to measure curtains. Each has its own practical properties while also enhancing the overall look and feel.
- Our standard lining is the most affordable option and is used solely to enhance and give your main fabric a backing, helping to protect the fabric from direct sunlight by filtering out the light in the room whilst also creating a nice drape. This light filtering option is lightweight and produces a soft natural glow in daylight hours. Available in ivory.
- Our satin finish lining is medium weight that gently filters out light whilst creating an improved drape and finish. Satin lining is available in ivory and white.
- Our blackout/thermal lining is a specialised heavyweight lining option and our top pick to eliminate light from the room when drawn. It also helps protect the main fabric from direct sunlight to avoid fading. Our blackout/thermal lining helps keep the room cool in summer by reducing the amount of light dispersing into the room, and during those colder months, it helps retain heat, making this a fantastic choice for bedrooms. Other benefits include reducing energy consumption and noise pollution. This option is ideal for windows and doors with a draft and gives a beautiful drape and finish. Our blackout/thermal lining is available in two colours, ivory and white.
- Interlined curtains contain an extra layer of lining that is placed between your main curtain fabric and the backing/lining. The interlining provides greater thermal efficiency and gives your curtains more body. This is a great option if you want your curtains to have a fuller look, creating a more opulent and luxurious feel.
What kind of fabric is used to make your curtains?
Will there be joins in my Curtains?
Larger curtains will require a join in the fabric. Curtains over 1260mm wide will have a single seam in the fabric. If your fabric contains a pattern, the panels will be pattern matched across the seams.
